This is my second one of these.. the first served flawlessly for years until I physically crunched the brain box by accident. All my fault! Nothing else offered the huge number of stick-on IR repeaters and low cost. If I was a complainer I would say the IR "Eye" was a poor design: It is cylindrical and the window is a narrow slit on the SIDE of the cylinder. The stiff wire tends to make the cylinder roll to its blind side, and there is no easy way to positively position it. I had learned to use those stick-on plastic SCOTCH wire tie pads with good success, but now I used hot glue in multiple places on the wire very near the eye.

The Hot Link Pro system works just as described. It was very easy to install, and the instructions are well written and very clear about how to set the system up. I have a wall mounted plasma with a credenza below containing 6 components. The Hot Link Pro system allows me to control all the components without having to open the doors of the credenza. It took about an hour to set up the system, with the bulk of the time spent locating the IR receivers on some of the components. Some of the manuals for the components do not indicate where the receiver is located, so you have to try to locate them visually, or by trial and error. This is well explained in the Hot Link Pro instructions. Once set up, the system works perfectly. I highly recommend it.

I almost bought one of those $300 IR repeaters but decided to give this a try. I moved all my components into a cabinet so I needed something so I didn't have to keep the doors open. I can't comment on customer service or other issues because I just plugged this in, connected the little thingies to the components and everything worked. The only problem I had was at night when all my lights were on, the blue light stayed on indicated a remote was sending a signal. I then moved the receiver eye under the cabinet and it worked like a charm. The remotes work from all over the room even without line of sight which they didn't when had my components on a table. This thing is great.
