After playing constantly for a year (last 4 months in Expert) my stock pedal just broke. It is the fate all pedals for RB1 face so if yours is still kicking consider yourself lucky... but the clock is ticking.
Anyhow, I came to Amazon and found a few replacement alternatives. There are the ones that re-inforce the pedal by screwing metal plates on top and that may be OK for non-broken pedals. In my case it was no good as the break happened relatively close to the hinge. I saw the all-aluminum replacement and decided to go for it, the price was right after all.
I got my order I think 3 days after I placed it and oh man, installation was easy. You only need a hammer and a punch/screwdriver to take the hinge pivot out and that's it, replacement is straightf forward. I then went ahead and tried out the new aluminum pedal... boy does it work!
For those drummers playing at the Expert level, the replacement pedal does add heft which makes kicking easier and actually you get better feedback, since you can feel exactly if you kicked or not. Also, crazy theory of mine, the all-aluminum construction improves the magnetic properties and the pedal switch actually switches more reliably than with the plastic original one.
Overall this is a great replacement and I strongly recommend it to anyone!

After playing a while my pedal was broken in half. I thought I was being careful but it happens to everybody I guess.
When I ordered this thing I was a bit skeptical: I was ready for modding the orange plastic part in case it didn't fit. Then I received the pedal today.
And? It's a perfect fit. No adjustments were necessary. The product is exactly as described in the picture. It deserves all 5 stars. They even included a thick iron nail for driving the pin out. Tons of kudos.
Okay the part was awesome but there's always a human story. There were small hiccups along the way mostly due to my bad:
- It took a long time to drive the pin out, as I was too worried to apply force (for fear I might crack the pedal base). After a while I got tired and started whacking it real good, then the pin came out. :(
- The aluminium pedal comes with its own 4 screws, which are thicker than the original ones. They fit *real* snug in the slots of the orange plastic, and it wasn't easy to find the original thread through the orange thing. If you drive the screw from a slightly odd angle it will go only halfway and get stuck. (If you force it you'd probably ruin the thread!) So be patient, and make sure you find the thread and not force it.
(I didn't try but you might as well make the slots slightly bigger on the orange plastic.)
Overall, this pedal beats the original plastic pedal (hands down) or a one with a wooden panel glued on (like mine :).
