Fun but limited. November 19, 2008 J. Storm (The Abyss) Pure for Playstation 3 certainly lives up to its' title. It is pure offroad adrenaline-pumping racing with massive jumps, beautifully rendered courses, and an overall solid racing experience. This game looks awesome on your HDTV in pure 1080P, and the framerates are smooth as silk. In fact, I would've given Pure a better overall rating, if it weren't for the fact that it's so limited as far as replay value. Customization is here, in fact you can do tons of different things with your ATV, but most of the changes you make are hardly noticeable unless you're a hardcore offroad racer. I also found the game to be relatively repetitive when playing in single-player mode and advancing through a career. Sure, there are tons of different trick combos to try on jumps, but after that... there's not much else here. Online play is a little more fun, but again can get repetitive. Overall, Pure is graphically stunning and fun for a while, but more as a rental instead of an actual purchase.
Superb Graphics November 19, 2008 Nathan M. Rose (Delray Beach, FL United States) Pure is your typical racing game...That is if you consider a game the has unbelievable graphics, sounds, and is simply amazing to play for the first few hours. However, after you are used to the unbelievable graphics and detail you realize that the game is just another racing game. Which, is great if you are into racing games. However if you are the occasional "race game user" then I would I recommend renting this one first.
Pure fun November 18, 2008 Kasia (New York City) I'm not the best in racing games but they are still a thrill when I'm in the mood for some fun. This one have lots of features and you actually have to learn the tricks in order to make the time, but overall it's a gorgeous game, the scenery is amazing, like being in a movie, I just wish it was more than one player, I often have to take turns playing it with my bf, I tend to give them the harder races but we have a blast playing this. Out of the few racing games I have this is my new favorite, I haven't even played anything else since we got it.
The veiws of an 11 year old boy November 18, 2008 Dominique Gorsline (MI) I put my 11-year-old son in charge of playing, exploring and testing this game. He was actually thrilled to do this as he's been asking for the game because it's popular conversation at school. He thought that the game was fun. It kept his attention. He liked that the game gets progressively harder as the user plays. He also liked that he could put together his own vehicle. I asked him how the game was when he let his 4-year old sibling play with him. The game is rated "E" so I wanted to get more information about how playable it really is for younger children. He said that it seemed enjoyable to his brother. However, younger children will have difficulty putting together their vehicles without assistance from others. It will also be hard for some younger children to advance throughout the game. However, since those aren't areas that my preschooler cared about, he was happy just driving around in the game. The game has been given 5-stars by my son. This is based not only on how much he liked it but on whether or not he'd spend his own money on purchasing it.
Pure good racing. November 17, 2008 D. Utzerath (San jose) A very addicting game for the gamer that likes to play alone or online only. Beautiful graphics and real creative levels. Raises standards for jump courses.
