5 out of 5 stars The DS is a huge hit with my 7 year old!   January 6, 2009

The Nintendo DS is a great thing. We are homeschooling, and have started using it for that! This bundle was okay--I misunderstood that the included "free gift" was a DVD--I thought it was a DS game. In any case, my 7 year old said it's his best Christmas present EVER! :-)

5 out of 5 stars Very pleased   January 6, 2009

I'll have to disclose up front that I am a huge fan of the Zelda series. That said, Phantom Hourglass is the sequel to Wind Waker which was released on Gamecube a few years back. In fact, this game is the reason I wanted to purchase a DS in the first place. The game was great fun and the limited edition DS with the triforce is perfect for someone like me. Highly recommended for the Zelda fanatic on your list.

5 out of 5 stars The kids love it...   December 22, 2008

We got this for my daughter as a Christmas present in 2007. She was 6 at the time & very capable of using this. My son who was 4 1/2 was also able to use it. It's been a year now & the DS has held up great. They both love it & play it all the time. My daughter really enjoys the Nintendogs game that came with the bundle & she plays that all the time as well.

My only complaint would be about the game itself not allowing multiple users. My son would like to play that game but my daughter won't let him play with her dog. It would be nice for them to both be able to have their own pet & it be saved to a profile of their own. Our solution was to get him his own DS for Christmas this year.

Overall though, the whole family enjoys playing games on this DS & we would highly recommend it. The puppy print on this particular DS is really adorable & it makes it unique.

4 out of 5 stars Great bundle   December 12, 2008

I got this bundle for my birthday a little over a year ago, and I'm glad I did. The DS Lite is a fantastic handheld system, and I love that they've improved it from the original, chunky, heavy DS system; they've managed to make this thing lighter and more compact, while still keeping it incredibly sturdy and well-made. I also happen to love the color scheme of this particular system; the gorgeous, shiny crimson red cover pairs really nicely with the black on the rest of the system.

The case that this bundle comes with is really nice, too. Again, it's not so big and chunky where it weighs down your bag or pocket, but it will prevent your DS from getting scratched if you drop it or if it's banging around inside of your purse or backpack. The case also has three pockets inside of it to hold three DS games, though you will have to stretch them out a bit when you first get it because they're really snug and you may initially have a hard time trying to get your game cartridges out.

Finally, Brain Age 2, the game it comes with, is a lot of fun and a great incentive for parents who want to give their kids a more educational game that will help their brains. And the other nice thing is that it's a good game for adults to play, too; it helps to improve your "brain age," as the game refers to it, no matter what your age, and you can do it in "only minutes a day."

Overall, this is a great bundle if you're looking for a new DS. At the current price of $298.99, it's a little on the spendy side when it comes to buying a new handheld system, especially when most DS's now are going for something between $130 and $150. I was fortunate enough to buy it when it was new and only paid the introductory price of $129.99. However, this it is a great bundle, and a limited edition one at that, so if you're really looking into getting a quality DS with a little something extra (ie a game and a carrying case), I'd definitely recommend getting this bundle.
